FAQ | Hints | Downloads

Minimum System Requirements

Your system must meet or exceed the following requirements. If it doesn't, the game won't run!

  • 16 MB RAM
  • 43 MB hard drive space
  • Color monitor with "Thousands of Colors" capability
  • CDROM drive

Installation

  1. Close all open Windows on your screen.
  2. Insert the Lode Runner 2 CDROM into the CDROM drive.
  3. In the window that appears, double-click the installer icon.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Uninstall

If you ever need to remove the game from your computer, simply drag the Lode Runner 2 folder (or any other folder that you may have installed to) to the trashcan icon.

Troubleshooting

To run this game, your computer MUST meet or exceed the minimum system requirements as listed on the box and at the top of this document. If it does not, you will have to return the software to the store where you purchased it for an exchange or a refund.

Technical problems:

"When I try to launch the game, it reports an "Insufficient Memory" error, but my Mac has over 16MB of RAM."

First, shut down all of your other applications before playing the game. If your other programs have already been shut down, you may need to optimize your Mac's memory settings for games. For details on how to do this, please refer to our Macintosh General Troubleshooting. If this doesn't help, see the section below titled "The game simply won't run or game performance is poor."

"The game simply won't run, or game performance is poor"

Try disabling all of your system extensions except for Apple CD-ROM and Quicktime. These are the only two extensions that you need to have loaded to play this game. Any other extensions loaded on your system will just take up memory or possibly conflict with the game, and possibly cause other problems as well. For details on how to disable extensions and create a games configuration on your system, please refer to our Macintosh General Troubleshooting.

Other questions:

"I can play a single player game, but when I try multi-player, the game freezes or slows down."

The Minimum System Requirements listed above are just that… minimum. If one of your systems in a multi-player game just barely meets the minimum system requirements, you may run into freezing or slow-downs. This is because multi-player games require more system resources than single-player ones.

" My game is playing in black and white."

To fix this problem you'll need to set your computer's color mode to thousands of colors instead of 256. You can change this setting in the "Display" control panel.

If this option is not listed in the control panel, then your monitor may not be capable of displaying thousands of colors. If this is the case, then the game will only play in black and white. Please note that a monitor that can display this many colors is one of the system requirements for the game that's listed on the box.

"How do I set up a joystick or other controller for this game?"

You can set up your controller in the same way you would set up the keys on your keyboard. To do this:

Select "Options" from the main game menu.
    Click on "Configure controls".

You'll see a variety of buttons that show the movements and actions that the player can perform in the game. Click once on any of these buttons to highlight it, and them press the direction or button on your controller that you want to use for that function. If your controller is installed properly, then that function should now be mapped to your joystick. When you're done, click on the smiley face in the lower right hand corner to save your changes.
